Game of Thrones' Kit Harington to play King Arthur

GAME of Thrones regular Kit Harington is to play King Arthur in David Dobkin’s potential new franchise starter Arthur & Lancelot.

The Warner Bros movie seeks to spin the King Arthur myth into a more lighthearted action adventure much in the same way it did with Sherlock Holmes.

According to classic legend, Lancelot was one of Arthur’s most loyal knights who ended up in an adulterous relationship with his wife, Guinevere.

Dobkins’ movie would see Arthur as an illegitimate son being raised by a humble and poor knight in a village who will grow into an inspiring leader while Lancelot is a rebellious noble who distrusts the established government.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Guinevere would only appear in a cameo at this stage but would feature in potential sequels if the franchise took off.

Harington, who plays Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, will join the previously cast Joel Kinnaman, one of the stars of another acclaimed US TV drama The Killing, as Lancelot.

Harington will also be seen in Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, which is now in post-production.
