GARY Ross, the director of The Hunger Games has confirmed his intention to return and direct the sequel, Catching Fire.

Speaking to New York Magazine, Ross – whose previous films include Seabiscuit and Pleasantville, revealed: “They’ve asked me to do the next one. I’m attached to it, it’s my intention to do it.”

When pushed to give away any of the sequel’s secrets, he replied: “To be honest, I haven’t really had time to think about the particulars of Catching Fire because, literally, this cake is right out of the oven and then I went right into the press junket, so I want to finish this movie properly and get it done. But no, I intend to do the next one.”

Ross had seemed to be a likely choice for director given the buzz surrounding The Hunger Games and its very positive reviews from film critics.
