HUMANS star Gemma Chan has joined the cast of Marvel’s latest superhero offering, Captain Marvel.

The actress will star alongside Brie Larson in the upcoming blockbuster, which marks the first female-led movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

She will be joined by Ben Mendelsohn, Jude Law and Samuel L. Jackson, who will reprise his role as Nick Fury from the Avengers movies

Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck — best known for indie hits Mississippi Grind and Half Nelson — will direct the movie, which follows the Air Force pilot Carol Danvers as her DNA fuses with an alien.

Chan will reportedly play Doctor Minerva, a member of the alien race, the Kree, and a geneticist who has powers similar to Captain Marvel.

The film is scheduled for release on March 8, 2019.

In the meantime, Marvel’s Black Panther is currently still dominating cinemas across the world, while Avengers: Infinity War follows soon after, in May.
