GERARD Butler has reportedly dropped out of the Point Break remake.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the reasons for his doing so include a scheduling conflict as well as creative differences.

The scheduling issue relates to Butler’s commitment to London Has Fallen, the sequel to Olympus Has Fallen, which is due to start shooting in the captial this autumn.

The Point Break shoot is due to start in late June and would last several months, taking its actors to several international locations.

The film’s makers, Alcon, are keen to keep the production on schedule and will look to recast Butler’s role in the coming weeks. The actor was to have played Bodhi, the Zen-infused bank robber and surfer originally played by Patrick Swayze.

Luke Bracey is playing hotshot FBI agent Johnny Utah, originally played by Keanu Reeves, who goes undercover into the surf world to find a group of bank robbers that have continually eluded detection.

The new film will still incorporate surfing but will also take in other extreme sports.

Ericson Core is directing the movie from a script by Kurt Wimmer.
