Gerard Butler to return for Angel Has Fallen three-quel

Olympus Has Fallen

Story by Jack Foley

GERARD Butler is to reprise his role as Secret Service Agent Mike Banning for a third time in Angel Has Fallen.

The actor created his own Die Hard-style franchise following the success of Olympus Has Fallen, which saw his Secret Service agent protect the President of the United States (played by Aaron Eckhart) after terrorists took over the White House.

A sequel, London Has Fallen, followed this year, albeit to less positive reviews. It saw him once again coming to the rescue of Eckhart’s President.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the plot will this time see the threat focused on Banning himself, as well as the President, whose official plane Air Force One is code-named Angel.

As yet, no director has been set and the film has yet to be given a release date. It has not been confirmed whether Eckhart will return.

The original Olympus Has Fallen was directed by Antoine Fuqua in 2013 and earned $161 million worldwide. Babak Najafi’s London Has Fallen grossed $195 million worldwide.
