Greta Gerwig to lead Rebecca Miller's Maggie's Plan
Story by Jack Foley
GRETA Gerwig has landed the lead role in Maggie’s Plan, the new film from Rebecca Miller.
Described by Deadline as “a romantic comedy of manners”, the film will tell the story of a young woman and the “joys and pitfalls of trying to make your own way in New York City”.
It marks Miller’s first movie since 2009’s The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, although she is also the author of recent novel Jacob’s Folly.
Ironically, Gerwig’s most recent film, the critically-acclaimed Frances Ha, also followed the fortunes of a young woman attempting to navigate life and love in NYC. That was directed by Noah Baumbach.
Miller has described Gerwig as possessing “a very specific kind of innocent intelligence about her that made her perfect for this part”.
