A SEQUEL to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has been confirmed for July 28, 2017.
The comic book powerhouse confirmed the news at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday, ahead of the release of the first film in UK cinemas on July 31.
The announcement was made via a mock video showing star Chris Pratt and director James Gunn bantering together, seemingly unaware that the world was watching.
The two were seen chuckling about how ‘awesome’ it would be to reveal the date for the sequel and how mad Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige would be if they did.
Marvel also confirmed that Josh Brolin as the villain Thanos in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Feige said in a statement: “Josh brings all the weight and stature necessary for a character as iconic and significant as Thanos. We’re incredibly excited for fans to see more of him as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand.”
