Hancock trio to be reunited for sequel
Story by Jack Foley
WILL Smith, Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman have all agreed to reprise their roles for the forthcoming Hancock sequel.
Returning director Peter Berg confirmed the news at the Toronto Film Festival, where he said that the story would involve Smith and Theron teaming up to deal with a third immortal entity even though they lose their powers in each other’s company.
Variety predicts that the sequel will also offer further insights into the 3,000-year-old world they came from, which was only touched upon belatedly in the original.
Bateman will once again play the PR executive who is married to Theron’s character, and who helps to transform Hancock’s fortunes.
Although deals have yet to be finalised while the new script is completed, Sony is reportedly eager to get everything in place as the first film made $624 million world-wide.
