Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters sequel in development
Story by Jack Foley
A SEQUEL to Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is in development, according to Paramount.
The news comes despite the fact that the movie was considered a box office disappointment in the US, where it made only $54 million.
But internationally, it has been a success, grossing more than $150 million to bring its world-wide total to $200 million and therefore prompt talk of a sequel.
Brazil ($24.1 milion), Russia ($19 million), Mexico ($14 million) and Germany at ($12.8 million) were the countries that embraced it the most, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film is an update of the classic Grimm fairytale, which saw the Hansel and Gretel children grow up to become witch hunters, played by Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton.
Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Kevin Messick are expected to return as producers.
