Helen Mirren and Aaron Paul for drone movie Eye In The Sky
Story by Jack Foley
DAME Helen Mirren and Aaron Paul are to star in the morality tale Eye InThe Sky, it was revealed at Cannes.
The duo will appear alongside Colin Firth in the Gavin Hood-directed drama, which Firth is also producing.
Based on a script by BAFTA winner Guy Hibbert, the film will begin as Colonel Michelle Madden, a military intelligence officer in command of a top secret drone operation (played by Mirren), commands a top-secret drone operation to capture a group of terrorists from their safe-house in Nairobi, Kenya.
However, the mission status is upgraded from capture to kill when it is revealed that the terrorists in question are about to put into play a suicide mission. But the strike is compromised when a nine-year-old girl enters the kill zone just as the drone pilot is poised to attack, prompting Madden to consult with the British foreign secretary.
Breaking Bad‘s Paul will play American drone pilot, Steve Watts, but Firth’s character has yet to be revealed.
Hood, who most recently directed Ender’s Game, is set to start shooting Eye In The Sky in South Africa in August 2014.
