Helen Mirren and Luke Evans join Luc Besson's Anna

The Tempest

Story by Jack Foley

DAME Helen Mirren and Luke Evans are the latest names to be added to the cast of Luc Besson’s new action thriller Anna.

Written and directed by Besson, Anna finds Russian model Sasha Luss playing the titular role. Plot details remain under wraps at this stage.

Dame Helen and Evans will reportedly have topline roles and join an ensemble cast that also includes Cillian Murphy.

Besson’s last movie was the big-budget sci-fi epic Valerian and the City of A Thousand Planets, which flopped at the world-wide box office.

However, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chairman Patrick Wachsberger and president of acquisitions & co-productions Jason Constantine said in a joint statement: “We are delighted to be reunited with Luc and his EuropaCorp team on another exciting, action-packed film featuring an A-list cast.”

The film will begin production in November.

Dame Helen was last seen in Fast & Furious 8, in a role she looks likely to reprise in the ninth instalment. Evans, meanwhile, had a supporting role as Gaston in the Disney live-action blockbuster Beauty & The Beast as well as a lead role as the title character in the Wonder Woman real-life origin story Professor Marston and the Wonder Women.
