Hugh Grant talks Bridget Jones 3 script problems

Hugh Grant in Love Actually

Story by Jack Foley

HUGH Grant has been talking about Bridget Jones 3 and the ongoing problems with the script.

In an interview with Total Film magazine he admitted he still wasn’t won over by the screenplay drafts so far and suggested that neither he nor co-stars Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth had signed on yet.

He told the magazine: “I did like playing Daniel Cleaver, but there is no definite part three. None of the three of us have signed up yet. There’s been a number of drafts that have had great things in them but haven’t quite hit the bullseye.

“But they’re working on it again now with yet another writer, as soon as they get to a good point we will do it, I’m sure. It’s just that it does have to be significantly re-invented.”

Tentatively titled Bridget Jones’s Baby, the third film in the franchise was due to have started filming soon but the script delays have meant everything has been postponed.

Working Title is hopeful, however, that the difficulties can be cleaned up in time for a start later this year.
