Hugh Jackman lands gritty Prisoners

Real Steel

Story by Jack Foley

HUGH Jackman has landed the lead role in gritty thriller Prisoners.

The story will focus on a small-town carpenter (Jackman) whose young daughter and best friend are kidnapped, prompting him totake the law into his own hands and kidnap the man he suspects is responsible after the cops fail to find them.

But the longer he keeps the suspect in captivity, the more he begins to have doubts that he has the right man.

Aaron Guzikowski’s script initially hit Hollywood in early 2009 and has attracted the attention of both Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg, the latter of whom later went on to star in Guzikowski’s screenplay for Contraband.

Now, it seems that Denis Villeneuve, the Canadian filmmaker behind the Oscar-nominated Incendies, is on board to direct.

Filming is due to begin in early 2013, after Jackman films Fox’s Wolverine sequel.
