Hugh Jackman ordered to bulk up by Darren Aronofsky

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Story by Jack Foley

HUGH Jackman has been ordered to bulk up by Wolverine director Darren Aronofsky.

The Australian actor, once voted the sexiest man in the world, told the Los Angeles Times while speaking to them about the forthcoming sequel.

“Right now, I’m at 210,… It’s 6,000 calories a day. It’s rough,” he said.

Elaborating on why he’s been asked to add more muscle, Jackman said: “Darren said with the last one, ‘Hey you looked great, but you’re so tall that in those long shots you looked kind of like Clint Eastwood, and that’s not Wolverine.’”

“He said that Wolverine, in the comics, is powerful, stocky … he’s short and thick. So, he said, ‘I want you to go there, get bigger’.”

Aronofsky is no stranger to asking his actors to work hard to get into required shape. Natalie Portman was ordered to lose 20 pounds for Black Swan

Jackman, ironically, is playing a former boxer turned trainer in futuristic drama Real Steel, which will be his next film. View photos
