Ian McShane is first dwarf cast in Snow White

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Story by Jack Foley

IAN McShane has been cast as the first dwarf in Universal’s Snow White & The Huntsman.

The film is a revisionist take on the fairytale that finds Kristen Stewart playing Snow White as a princess who escapes her evil stepmother (played by Charlize Theron) with the help of a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) who was to have her killed.

Instead, he trains Snow White to survive and fight back.

McShane – who can currently be seen playing Blackbeard in Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides – will play Caesar, the leader of the dwarfs.

Rupert Sanders is directing the movie, which is due to commence shooting in August in time for a release by Universal on June 1, 2012.

Further dwarf casting is expected to take place in earnest as Universal look to get their Snow White project out ahead of a rival one by Relativity Media.

McShane is currently shooting Bryan Singer’s Jack The Giant Killer in which he plays a benevolent king.
