Ian McShane joins Jack The Giant Killer

Kung Fu Panda: Ian McShane, Jack Black, Lucy Liu and Dustin Hoffman

Story by Jack Foley

IAN McShane has joined Bryan Singer’s Jack The Giant Killer alongside Nicholas Hoult and Eleanor Tomlinson.

The actor, who will shortly be seen playing Blackbeard in the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie (view photos), will play the princess’ father, King Brahmwell, in the movie.

Singer’s film is a re-telling of the Jack and the Beanstalk fairy tale and will focus on farm boy Jack (Hoult) as he leads an expedition to free a princess (Tomlinson) taken hostage by a giant.

The ensuing situation threatens the uneasy peace between humans and giants and is also frowned upon by McShane’s character, who – according to The Hollywood Reporter – is none too thrilled about a union between his daughter and a farmer boy.

Also among the cast are Stanley Tucci, as a villainous adviser to the king with designs on usurping power, and Ewan McGregor, Bill Nighy and John Kassir.
