IDRIS Elba is attached to possibly star in terrorism thriller Bastille Day.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film focuses on a young American artist living in Paris and a washed-up CIA agent who are thrown together and tasked with diverting an imminent attack on the city.

As yet, there is no word on who Elba will play and it is not likely to be his next project as there is currently no director attached. Pierre Morel had been due to step behind the camera but he has since departed the project.

Elba received a BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Humanitarian Award this past weekend and is generating awards buzz for his performance as Nelson Mandela in the forthcoming biopic Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom.

He recently wrapped on The Gunman alongside Sean Penn.
