Ilfenesh Hadera joins Baywatch movie

ILFENESH Hadera has joined the cast of the new Baywatch movie as Dwayne Johnson’s love interest.

Seth Gordon is directing the 2017 feature, which also stars Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario and Kelly Rohrbach.

The film is based on the 1990s television series about California lifeguards, which starred David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.

Paramount’s movie will focus on the leader of an elite group of lifeguards (played by Johnson) who is forced to team up with a young, hot-shot former Olympian (Efron) to save their beloved bay.

News of Hadera’s casting was announced by Johnson via his Instagram account. In doing so, he revealed that Hadera will play a character named Stef who must “be a lot of things: Strong, intelligent, formidable, beautiful and funny”.

Johnson went on to call the actress “a 5’11 walkin’ smokestack with legs for days”.

He added: “Smart and tougher than new rope.. just the way we like ‘em.”

Hadera is currently shooting new Showtime series Billions alongside Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti and has also starred in the Spike Lee films Chi-Raq and Oldboy, as well as HBO’s Show Me a Hero (alongside Oscar Isaac) and NBC’s Chicago Fire.

Johnson’s Instagram post wasn’t just an announcement. It also served as a warning card to co-star Efron – or rather a back off!

It continued: “And seeing as she’s playing my love interest – my strong calloused hands are the ONLY HANDS allowed to rub suntan oil on her soft supple skin. You hear that Efron? Step out of line Zac and she’ll knock your unattractive candy ass into next week. Mine too.

“Our dope cast is coming together nicely with a few more big announcements/cool surprises along the way. Let’s have some rated R fun.. We are the keepers of “The Bay”. We are… #BAYWATCH. #SandSquadUpInThisBitch.”
