Imogen Poots lands Todd Field's Beautiful Ruins
Story by Jack Foley
IMOGEN Poots is to star in Todd Field’s new film, Beautiful Ruins.
Based on the Jess Walter novel of the same name, the film will follow an American ingenue named Dee Moray (a young girl or woman who is endearingly innocent) as she travels to Italy in 1962 during the production of the epic Cleopatra.
The male roles, which include a young Italian hotelier, Cleopatra star Richard Burton, a World War II veteran working to complete a novel and a studio raconteur, have yet to be announced.
Field, who directed Little Children and In The Bedroom, is co-writing the script with Walter.
Poots remains one of Hollywood’s most in-demand young actresses. In the next year she has the comedy The Awkward Moment with Zac Efron, “Need For Speed”: for Aaron Paul, A Long Way Down and All Is By My Side as well as Squirrels To The Nuts.
Filming is set to start in May on location in Italy.
Beautiful Ruins has sold more than a million copies and has been translated into 25 languages.
