Story by Jack Foley

JACK Black is to star in a new comedy from British director Michael Winterbottom.

Bailout is based on Jess Walter’s novel, The Financial Lives of The Poets, and follows one man’s attempt to come back from the brink of financial ruin after he meets a couple of losers in a late night supermarket.

The casting was announced as part of the Cannes Film Festival, when it was also revealed that Winterbottom intends to start shooting in the US in August.

Speaking at the festival, Winterbottom told The Hollywood Reporter that the project achieves the “rare feat of being funny and true at the same time”.

Black was most recently seen on UK cinema screens in Christmas hit Gulliver’s Travels

He will next lend his voice to animated comedy sequel Kung Fu Panda 2, which is also being promoted at Cannes.
