Jake Gyllenhaal injured on Nightcrawler set
Story by Jack Foley
JAKE Gyllenhaal had to be taken to hospital after injuring himself on the set of his latest movie, Nightcrawler.
The actor, who can currently be seen starring alongside Hugh Jackman in the box office hit Prisoners, had to have “numerous” stitches in his hand after he cut it during filming.
His spokeswoman Mara Buxbaum said: “While Jake was filming an intense scene… his character purposefully banged his hand into the mirror. Unfortunately the mirror accidentally broke, and Jake’s hand was badly cut up.
“He received numerous stitches at the ER and was released a couple hours later. He already returned to set for work.”
Nightcrawler sees Gyllenhaal playing a freelance reporter investigating Los Angeles’ underworld crime scene.
The actor, now 32, has lost a lot of weight to prepare for the role.
After completing filming on Nightcrawler, Gyllenhaal is getting ready to scale Everest for director Baltasar Kormakur.
The film will chronicle the true story of two commercial expeditions that launched a summit attempt from the South Coll on May 10, 1996, only to be caught in a blizzard on their way down that ended in tragedy.
