Story by Jack Foley

JAKE Gyllenhaal is set to unite with Half Nelson writer-directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden for their new gambling drama, Mississippi Grind.

The film follows a down-on-his-luck gambler who, faced with crushing debt, teams up with a younger gambling addict (Gyllenhaal) in an attempt to change his luck.

A road trip through the South ensues as the former attempts to win back what has been lost.

As yet, he lead character has still to be cast but The Hollywood Reporter believes Boden and Fleck are looking for someone in the 40-something age range.

Since helping Ryan Gosling to a best actor nomination for Half Nelson, Fleck and Boden have become recognised as two of independent cinema’s finest filmmakers.

They have also won critical acclaim for their baseball drama Sugar and recently wrote and directed It’s Kind of a Funny Story with Zach Galifianakis and Emma Roberts.

Gyllenhaal will next be seen opposite Anna Kendrick and Michael Pena in David Ayer’s gritty crime drama End of Watch.
