James Badge Dale and Melissa Leo set to take Flight for Zemeckis

The Pacific

Story by Jack Foley

JAMES Badge Dale and Melissa Leo are in talks to join new Robert Zemeckis drama Flight alongside Denzel Washington.

The film focuses on an alcoholic and drug-addicted pilot (to be played by Washington) who is forced to rescue his aircraft and its passengers when an engine malfunctions, thereby turning him into a hero.

The ensuing FAA investigation does, however, uncover evidence of drug abuse, which they attempt to sweep under the carpet in order to preserve the image of the captain, who is trying to change the course of his life.

But Leo is playing an investigator who is, according to The Hollywood Reporter, determined to expose the pilot and find him guilty of negligence, while Dale would portray a gaunt dying cancer patient.

Leo won an Oscar earlier this year for her work in The Fighter and was also Emmy-nominated for her performance in HBO’s mini-series Mildred Pierce.

Dale was the breakout star of HBO’s The Pacific who will shortly be seen in Joe Carnahan’s The Grey, Marc Forster’s World War Z alongside Brad Pitt and in the upcoming sex drama Shame with Michael Fassbender.
