JAMES Cameron has confirmed that he still intends to adapt Yukito Kishiro’s cyberpunk manga Battle Angel Alita.

Speaking to MTV, the Avatar director said that work on the action-adventure, which would contain 3D elements, is well underway.

“We’ve got a very good script, we’ve done about a year of production design, and we’ve put together an art reel that shows the arc of the film,” he commented. “It’s pretty much ‘just add water’ and we’re ready to go.”

The manga series follows the fortunes of an amnesiac female cyborg after she is rescued from a scrap heap and rebuilt to become a kick-ass martial arts bounty hunter.
