Jamie Bell, Miles Teller, Michael B Jordan and Kate Mara for Fantastic Four reboot
Story by Jack Foley
MILES Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Michael B Jordan have reportedly been confirmed as the new Fantastic Four.
The reboot is being directed by Josh Trank, who has already had a minor superhero hit of sorts with found footage pic Chronicle.
And according to The Hollywood Reporter, Trank will be reunited with one of that film’s stars, Jordan, who will play Johnny Storm (aka The Human Torch), and who has been involved with the project for a while.
Teller would play Reed Richards, aka Mr Fantastic, so long as his scheduling issues can be worked out – the young actor, currently in UK cinemas with That Awkward Moment is also coming off starring in the Sundance hit Whiplash, which has raised his burgeoning profile still further.
A John Belushi biopic, which is due to shoot in the spring, is one of several projects reportedly courting his attention.
Mara will play Sue Storm, aka Invisible Girl, while Bell tales on Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.
The reboot marks Twentieth Century Fox’s second attempt at the Fantastic Four franchise, following the 2005 and 2007 movies that starred Ioan Gruffudd as Richards, Jessica Alba as Sue Storm/Invisible Girl, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm and Michael Chiklis as Grimm.
In case you don’t already know the new cast members, Jordan is currently nominated for an Indie Spirit for his acclaimed work in Fruitvale Station and actually stars alongside Teller in That Awkward Moment, Mara was among the ensemble of Netflix hit House of Cards and Brit thesp Bell can currently be seen in Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac.
The Fantastic Four reboot has been given a US cinema release date of June 19, 2015.
