Jamie Dornan to replace Charlie Hunnam in Fifty Shades of Grey
Story by Jack Foley
JAMIE Dornan is to replace Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey.
According to Variety, the 31-year-old Northern Ireland actor will line up alongside the previously announced Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele.
As yet, Universal and Focus Features have declined to comment but Twitter is currently ablaze with the news, while Jamie Dornan is trending.
The actor can currently be seen playing Sheriff Graham Humbert in ABC series Once Upon a Time but he’ll also be recognisable to UK viewers from his chilling portrayal of a serial killer in BBC Two crime drama The Fall alongside Gillian Anderson.
He also sings, performing in an Irish folk duo, and has modeled for Calvin Klein, Christian Dior and Armani.
According to Variety, Universal will now work quickly to fill out the remainder of the cast as production had been thrown a curveball following the surprise departure of Hunnam (due to scheduling conflicts).
This includes finding an actress to play Steele’s roommate Kate.
British director Sam Taylor-Johnson is directing the adaptation of EL James’ sexy best-seller, which is set for release in August 2014.
