Jamie Foxx and Oliver Stone in talks for Martin Luther King biopic

JAMIE Foxx and Oliver Stone are in early talks to star in and direct a potential Martin Luther King biopic.

According to Variety, DreamWorks and Warner Bros are looking into the project, having been exploring different possibilities since 2009.

The Oscar-winning success of last year’s Lincoln by Steven Spielberg has driven the current push.

The script would follow the famous civil rights activist from his rise through to his assassination in 1968.

Stone is seen as an ideal candidate to direct given his background with historical event pictures such as JFK, World Trade Center and W, while Foxx has previously played Ray Charles in the biopic Ray, for which he won an Oscar.

As yet, however, it is still very early days.
