Story by Jack Foley

JAMIE Foxx is in talks to star in the remake of Annie.

If successful, the Django Unchained star would line up alongside the previously cast Quvenzhane Wallis as the orphan girl.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Foxx would play a character named Benjamin Stacks, a variation of the Daddy Warbucks personage who takes Annie in.

Will Gluck is directing the project, while its numerous producers include Will Smith and Jay-Z.

Sony is hoping production can commence in the autumn with a view to having it ready for release in 2014.

Foxx is currently shooting The Amazing Spider-Man 2, in which he plays villain Electro, and will star as the president in Roland Emmerich blockbuster White House Down, which opens in June in the US.
