Story by Jack Foley

JASON Clarke and Omar Sy are to star in new action thriller The Candy Store.

Co-written and directed by Stephen Gaghan (of Traffic and Syriana fame), the film will bring together several storylines set against a dynamic criminal underworld in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Clarke will play a former covert operative who discovers the organisation he was dedicated to fighting is now operating in his new backyard.

He subsequently teams up with a disgraced local cop to investigate, which sees them crossing paths with a king pimp (played by Sy), a Cold War consigliere and a beautiful woman wrapped up in an elaborate threat against Manhattan.

Clarke is currently riding high off his appearance in Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty, while Sy is hot after the global success of French movie Untouchable.

Clarke’s forthcoming projects include The Great Gatsby and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes while Sy is currently shooting X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The Candy Store will be launched to foreign buyers at the upcoming Cannes film market.
