The Muppets

Story by Jack Foley

JASON Segel, the man behind the recent revival of The Muppets, has ruled himself out of taking part in the proposed sequel.

Segel was the man who got Kermit and company back into the spotlight after a 12-year gap from cinemas. But even though he’s delighted with the success of the project, he feels it’s time to part company.

Confirming the the news to The Hollywood Reporter during an interview for his upcoming film, Jeff, Who Lives at Home Segel said that co-writer Nicholas Stoller will be returning to write the next film, as will director James Bobin.

He added: “My goal was to bring back The Muppets, and I feel like we did it. I just felt like I did what I set out to do. I’m really happy that they’re back to where they belong.”

Pressed further on whether he may yet star in the sequel, Segel answered: “It doesn’t really make organic sense. Maybe I’ll do something in the future but no, I’m just sort of happy to send my kids off into the world.”
