Jason Segel to play lead in new Muppet movie
Story by Jack Foley
FUNNYMAN and Muppet geek Jason Segel is to play the main human lead in Disney’s new Muppets movie.
The star of How I Met Your Mother will also join David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, the duo behind last year’s The Proposal, as a producer on the project, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Plot details are being kept under wraps at this stage but James Bobin is to direct the movie, while Segel could well find himself playing a man on a quest to find and reunite the Muppets.
Segel has turned the Muppet movie into a passion project, having also co-written the script with Nicholas Stoller.
In addition to his TV show, Segel is on a movie roll at the moment, having also signed on to star in new Cameron Diaz comedy Bad Teacher and with Ed Helms on the Duplass brothers’ movie, Jeff Who Lives at Home.
