JC Chandor to follow All Is Lost with A Most Violent Year

Story by Jack Foley

JC Chandor is to follow his critically-acclaimed Robert Redford film All Is Lost with A Most Violent Year.

Set in New York City during the winter of 1981, which is statistically one of the most violent years in the city’s history, the film will follow the lives of an immigrant and his family trying to expand their business.

However, they get dragged into the “rampant violence, decay and corruption of the day”, which inevitably threatens to destroy all they have built.

The film stars Oscar Isaac, currently riding high in the Coen brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis, and Jessica Chastain, last seen in the Oscar nominated Zero Dark Thirty.

Chandor wrote and will direct A Most Violent Year, which will mark his third film.

The filmmaker first shot to prominence with his debut feature, Margin Call, which was nominated for an Oscar for best original screenplay.
