AFTER weeks of speculation, it appears that Jena Malone has now been offered snide tribute Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Malone is now in early negotiations for the part, which is described as a key role that will be reprised in the trilogy’s third installment, Mockingjay.

Catching Fire is currently scheduled to start shooting in late September under the direction of Francis Lawrence.

It will see Jennifer Lawrence reprising her role as Katniss Everdeen alongside Josh Hutcherson’s Peeta Mellark.

The character of Johanna Mason is described in author Suzanne Collins’ best-seller as possessing ‘a wicked ability to murder’. She wins her Hunger Games by pretending to be weak and then picking off the other tributes.

She also makes a striking entrance in the book, greeting heroine Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence in the film) naked… well, in a pair of green slippers!
