Blood Diamond

Story by Jack Foley

JENNIFER Connelly has joined the cast of manga adaptation Alita: Battle Angel, an ambitious joint project between James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Connelly is to play one of the film’s villains. She will line up alongside Christoph Waltz, Ed Skrein and Moonlight‘s Mahershala Ali.

Maze Runner actress Rosa Salazar has already been cast as the title character in the film, which is set in the 26th Century and follows a female cyborg (Salazar) that is discovered in a scrapyard by a scientist.

With no memory of her previous life except her deadly martial-arts training, the woman becomes a bounty hunter, tracking down criminals.

The action-adventure story is meant to serve as a backdrop to themes of self-discovery and the search for love.

The movie is currently in production in Texas.

Connelly won an Oscar for her performance in 2001’s A Beautiful Mind and is also best known for roles in Labyrinth, Dark Water and Blood Diamond. She is currently shooting Granite Mountain, the true-life tale of the elite firefighters who perished while fighting a wild blaze in Arizona.
