Jennifer Lawrence in talks for Burial Rites

The Hunger Games

Story by Jack Foley

JENNIFER Lawrence is in talks to reunite with The Hunger Games director Gary Ross for new Iceland-set thriller Burial Rites.

Based on Hannah Kent’s novel, the film would focus on a murder trial in Iceland in 1829 in which a woman is charged with the brutal murder of her former master.

While awaiting execution, she is sent to an isolated farm, the residents of which are initially horrified at the prospect of housing a convicted murderer.

If successful, the project would mark the second recent collaboration between Lawrence and Ross as the two recently attached themselves to Universal’s remake of East of Eden.

Oscar winner Lawrence continues to be in high demand. She will next be seen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in November as well as FBI drama American Hustle, which reunites her with Silver Linings Playbook director David O Russell and leading man Bradley Cooper.
