Jennifer Lawrence set to reunite with David O Russell for miracle mop inventor role
Story by Jack Foley
JENNIFER Lawrence looks set to work with David O Russell for a third time in a biopic of Joy Mangano, the inventor of the Miracle Mop.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the proposed movie is only in the very early stages of development, which means that Russell and Lawrence have a long way to go before committing.
But Russell is understood to be in discussions to rewrite and direct the film and reportedly wants Lawrence for the lead role.
The biopic would chronicle Mangano’s transformation from single mother in Long Island to a QVC star, where she is a mainstay on the Home Shopping Network with her many inventions.
The project is being pitched as a tale of female empowerment and boasts a script by Annie Mumolo, the writer behind Bridesmaids.
Russell and Lawrence have thus far proved to be a formidable partnership. Their first film together, Silver Linings Playbook, saw Lawrence win best actress at the Oscars, while their latest collaboration, American Hustle, is nominated for Oscars in all the main categories.
