JEREMY Irons has admitted that the bad reviews heaped upon Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice were probably deserved.

The British actor, who actually won widespread acclaim for his portrayal of butler Alfred Pennyworth in the movie, was speaking to the Daily Mail when he made the comment.

He said that the poor reviews reflected the “muddled” nature of the storyline but predicted that next year’s follow-up Justice League: Part One, would be a better movie.

“I mean it [Batman Vs Superman] took $800m, so the kicking didn’t matter but it was sort of over-stuffed,” he said, before adding: “I think [it, The Justice League] will be simpler. The script is certainly a lot smaller, it’s more linear.”

Irons is also expected to appear in the now keenly anticipated stand-alone Batman movie that is being written and directed by Ben Affleck, who also emerged with a lot of credit from Zack Snyder’s film.

He added: “I’m tied into Batman at the minute, which is nice because it’s a bit of income.”

In other Batman news, Warner Brothers has confirmed that Jesse Eisenberg will return as Lex Luthor in the two forthcoming Justice League movies.
