Jessica Chastain rules herself out of Iron Man 3 contention

The Debt, Jessica Chastain

JESSICA Chastain has ruled herself out of contention for Iron Man 3.

The Oscar nominated actress announced her decision in a note posted on her Facebook page, which read: “Sorry to say that Iron Man 3 isn’t going to work out. My schedule is jammed packed and I can’t fit anything else in. The press announced my possible attachment far too soon.

“I know many of you wanted me to be involved, and I’m so sorry to disappoint you. Hopefully, there’ll be another Marvel film in my future. Shane Black and everyone on the IM3 team are really wonderful. I’m very excited to see the film when it comes out. xx”

Chastain had reportedly been offered the role of a scientist in Marvel’s latest Iron Man flick and generated a lot of positive fan buzz after being linked to the project.

But unfortunately her current in-demand status – she appeared in six films in 2011 alone – has prevented her from doing so.

Iron Man 3 is being directed by Shane Black, who replaces Jon Favreau, and sees Robert Downey Jr reuniting with the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle of an all-new, non-Avengers related adventure.
