JJ Abrams confirms Star Trek sequel is next

JJ Abrams directs Star Trek

Story by Jack Foley

JJ ABRAMS has confirmed that Star Trek 2 will be his next project.

Speaking to Cinema Blend while promoting his latest film, Super 8, Abrams said: “The next thing we’re working on, and hopefully we’ll be able to pass information out sooner or later, is the next Star Trek.”

What’s more, the project won’t be in 3D – or at least not at this stage.

All eyes will now focus on whether he can complete the project in time for Paramount’s proposed release date of June 29, 2012.

But in typically bullish mood, Abrams said that he wasn’t aiming for dates so much as quality, adding: “I care much more that it be good than it be ready.”
