AUSTRALIAN actor Joel Edgerton is in talks to star opposite Christian Bale in Ridley Scott’s Biblical epic Exodus.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor is being lined up to play the Egyptian ruler Ramses opposite Bale’s Moses.

If successful, Edgerton would join Scott on the shoot in September, which is planning to use locations in Spain, Morocco and England.

Steve Zaillian has re-written the script, which was originally drafted by Adam Cooper and Bill Collage.

Edgerton has become one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors following acclaimed performances in Warrior, Zero Dark Thirty and The Great Gatsby.

He recently stepped into Gavin O’Connor’s Western Jane Got a Gun opposite Natalie Portman and has recently signed up to star opposite Michael Shannon in Jeff Nichols’ sci-fi film Midnight Special.
