Johnny Depp to replace Worthington on The Tourist?
Story by Jack Foley
JOHNNY Depp is in talks to replace Sam Worthington on new thriller The Tourist.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star would join Angelina Jolie on the project, while Alfonso Cuaron is among the names being touted as a possible new director.
The film would follow an American tourist (played by Depp) in France who is reluctantly recruited by a female Interpol agent (Jolie) to help locate a criminal who was once her lover.
The Tourist was originally touted as a star vehicle for Sam Worthington and Charlize Theron under the direction of Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck.
But after Theron departed, Worthington and von Donnersmarck followed, citing creative differences, according to Variety.
Production on The Tourist – which is a remake of French spy thriller Anthony Zimmer – is scheduled to begin early next year.
