Jon Chu to direct GI Joe 2

GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Story by Jack Foley

JON Chu is to direct G.I Joe 2 for Paramount, it has been confirmed.

The sequel could also see several key cast members being replaced as Paramount looks to freshen up the franchise and make it appeal more to its core fanboys.

Chu is believed to have got the nod to direct the film ahead of F Gary Gray because of his recent work on Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, which performed ahead of expectations.

The hit documentary was made for $13 million and has so far grossed over $53 million.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel could also see cast changes. Channing Tatum is expected to return as Duke, but Joseph Gordon-Levitt may no longer be available to play one of the villains given his current slate of pending proojects (he is attached to the third Batman movie).

Sienna Miller is also ‘unlikely’ to return, with her Baroness role possibly being re-cast or divided into a couple of new characters.
