Joseph Gordon-Levitt developing Fraggle Rock movie

Joseph Gordon-Levitt in (500) Days of Summer

Story by Jack Foley

JOSEPH Gordon-Levitt is developing a movie version of former children’s favourite Fraggle Rock.

The long-gestating adaptation of the Jim Henson 1980s puppet TV show will see Gordon-Levitt both starring in and producing.

In its heyday, Fraggle Rock was a Canadian series that became a big international hit. The programme followed the adventures of a group of cave-dwelling puppet creatures called Fraggles.

Included in their world was a race of small, industrious creatures named Doozers, who lived in the caves, as well as the Gorgs, furry giants who looked at Fraggles as nuisances.

Jim Byrkit and Alex Manugian had been hired to write the script, while John Stevenson (the co-director of Kung Fu Panda) was to direct. But according to The Hollywood Reporter that may change now that Gordon-Levitt is on board.

The actor recently completed an untitled Christmas comedy with Seth Rogen and Anthony Mackie and is currently shooting Oliver Stone’s Snowden. He also has The Walk among his completed projects.
