Joseph Gordon-Levitt in (500) Days of Summer

Story by Jack Foley

JOSEPH Gordon-Levitt is developing a remale of Little Shop of Horrors for Warner Bros.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor would also play Seymour, the nerdy florist who is forced to feed the beast in order to keep his fame and popularity rising.

Gordon-Levitt is working with Marc Platt, the producer behind Broadway’s Wicked and such films as Wanted and Legally Blonde, on the re-imagining.

No director has yet been appointed but a script is being written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the playwright behind Broadway’s Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.

Gordon-Levitt is a fan of the movie but has a busy schedule ahead of him with promotional duties for The Dark Knight Rises as well as Looper.

He’s also recently announced he will be making his directorial debut with Scarlett Johansson on a modern day Don Juan story. Find out more

Little Shop of Horrors has already had two movie incarnations – the first took the form of a quirky 1960 movie from Roger Corman, while the second was directed by Frank Oz in 1986 and starred Rick Moranis and Steve Martin. It was based on a successful off-Broadway musical.
