Joseph Gordon-Levitt in (500) Days of Summer

Story by Jack Foley

JOSEPH Gordon-Levitt is to make his directorial debut with a sexy new comedy – and he’s getting a little help from Scarlett Johansson.

The as-yet untitled project reportedly focuses on “a modern day Don Juan and his journey to become less of a selfish dick”, according to the actor’s publicist.

Gordon-Levitt will direct for the first time having co-written the script with Johansson.

Production is due to start in Los Angeles in April.

The move marks another development in the ever-expanding Gordon-Levitt portfolio, especially as he remains one of Hollywood’s most in-demand young actors.

He recently starred to critical acclaim in 50/50 (stepping in at the last minute for James McAvoy) and has four major movies due out this year.

He’s part of Christopher Nolan’s ensemble cast of The Dark Knight Rises, stars in the thriller Premium Rush, reunites with Brick director Rian Johnson for Looper and plays Abraham Lincoln’s brother in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln.
