Joseph Morgan lands Dermaphoria lead role

The Vampire Diaries, Joseph Morgan

Story by Jack Foley

THE Vampire Diaries star Joseph Morgan has landed the lead role in Dermaphoria.

An adaptation of Craig Clevenger’s cult novel that is being described by The Hollywood Reporter as “Memento meets Breaking Bad“, the film follows a brilliant chemist (to be played by Morgan) who wakes up in jail after a drug-lab explosion suffering from amnesia.

Trapped between the cops who want to arrest him and the heavies who will stop at nothing to get the formula buried deep inside his head, the chemist must piece together memories fragmented by a powerful new drug and find his missing girlfriend.

Dermaphoria also stars Justified‘s Walton Goggins, Ron Perlman and newcomer Nicole Badaan.

Shooting is due to begin in New Orleans, where Morgan has been busy shooting his Vampire Diaries spin-off, The Originals, at the end of the month (June 2013).

Morgan has also recently completed the thriller Open Grave with District 9‘s Sharlto Copley.
