JOSH Brolin and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have joined the cast of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

Brolin will play the part of Dwight, a character originally played by Clive Owen in the first Sin City movie, while Gordon-Levitt has reportedly signed up to play another central character called Johnny.

Commenting on Brolin’s character, director Robert Rodriguez and writer Frank Miller said in a statement: “Dwight is a constant character throughout the Sin City world and A Dame To Kill For is a defining episode in his life. We’re looking forward to Josh’s take on Dwight.”

Gordon-Levitt has also put out a statement on his involvement, which reveals: “I love how the first movie uses VFX, not to make fake things look real, but to create a heightened world unburdened by the look and feel of reality. Plus, nobody makes a badass like Mr Rodriguez.”

The casting of both Brolin and Gordon-Levitt completes a busy period in Sin City‘s production schedule, which is shooting in Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas, ready for a release in October.

In other casting news, Jamie Chung has replaced Devon Aoki and Dennis Haysbert has stepped in for the late Michael Clarke Duncan in the sequel.

While Law & Order: SVU and True Blood actor Christopher Meloni has also signed on to play the pivotal part of a cop.
