Julia Ormond set to play Superman's Kryptonian mother

JULIA Ormond is poised to line up alongside Russell Crowe as Superman’s Kryptonian mother in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, the new Superman movie.

An official offer went out on Thursday, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which the actress is expected to confirm.

Ormond would play Lara, joining Russell Crowe as Superman’s Kryptonian father Jor-el.

Kevin Costner and Diane Lane have already been cast as Jonathan and Martha Kent.

The rest of the cast includes Henry Cavill as Superman, Michael Shannon as the villainous General Zod, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Antje Traue as Zod’s henchwoman Faora.

Shooting is due to commence in Vancouver in August.
