Julianne Moore in talks for Kingsman 2

JULIANNE Moore is reportedly in talks to play the villain in Kingsman 2.

Matthew Vaughn will return to the director’s chair for the continuing adventures of wayward spy Eggsy (played by Taron Egerton), a kid from the wrong side of London who was – in the first film – taken in by a suave and sophisticated agent (Colin Firth) and turned into one of its top operatives.

Details of Moore’s potential character remain sketchy but it is understood the negotiations are geared towards landing the part of the main villain – a position occupied, in the first film, by Samuel L Jackson.

The potential stumbling blocks concern Moore’s schedule, as she is also juggling several projects, including Todd Haynes’ adaptation of kids’ book Wonderstruck.

Filming on Kingsman 2 is due to begin in May and last throughout the summer, with the action reportedly moving from London to America.

Earlier reports that Firth was also due to return have, reportedly, been proved false. His character died in the first movie but there was initial talk of finding ways to return the actor, whether via flashback or even as a twin brother. But those ideas have now been discarded.
