Jurassic Park 4 put on hold by Universal

Jurassic Park 3

Story by Jack Foley

JURASSIC Park 4 has been put on hold by Universal in an attempt to develop the story further.

The distributor only recently announced that production was due to begin in June for a release date of June 13, 2014. Colin Trevorrow had also been appointed as director.

But on Wednesday the studio issued a statement saying the following: “In co-ordination with filmmakers, Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal’s beloved franchise.”

The decision means that Universal enter next summer’s blockbuster season light on entries. Fast & Furious 7 remains pencilled in for July 11 but has also encountered production difficulties following the departure of long-term director Justin Lin, who said he needed more time in between the sixth and seventh instalments. James Wan is now on board to attempt to hit the target.

As yet, there is no new timetable for when shooting on the picture will begin, although Trevorrow – who shot to prominence off the back of indie hit Safety Not Guaranteed – is living in Hawaii in readiness for the shoot.
